Visual Notetaking, ALIGN ~ The University of Birmingham

Visual notetaking is the practice of capturing conversations, conferences, talks and presentations in a visual way. I can attend virtually or in-person, and will listen to the content of a discussion, lecture, workshop, panel, or meeting ~ and then illustrate it live!

In this example, I was commissioned by ALIGN (who work within The University of Birmingham). The ALIGN (Arthroplasty & Orthopaedics Interdisciplinary Group for Evidence & Outcomes) network, brings together clinicians and methodologists in orthopaedic surgery to create high-quality, inclusive, and scalable research. I spent two hours visually note-taking at their recent conference in Birmingham, as they pitched their new ‘Patient Benefit Application’ to peers! As a result, I provided them with a ‘pack’ of high-quality files, including a large primary image alongside smaller ‘broken-down’ elements for social media, thank-you packs or printing use. Also, as the note taking was completed digitally, I was able to provide two time-lapse videos (mp4s.) of the process taking place. I would love to work on similar projects in the future within different corporate and research fields…
